What separates Nolte from other vocalists and composers is the poetry and storytelling quality of her compositions, with lyrics reminescent of Joni Mitchell - just minus Mitchell playfulness. “Save Me One Last Time” speaks to the bandleadeader’s seriousness as a lyricists when the theme of lost love is addressed: “If I keep on falling, I’ll be lost forever/ Save me one last time.” [

"Purely Imagining" For 24:00
I have always loved “Pure Imagination” since I was a kid. I decided to improvise over its changes for 24 minutes today (over a backing track from the ireal app) and wanted you to share it with you. My mindset was pretty much, just to try and have the melody in the back of my mind the whole time and to play what I heard over the top of it, without thinking too much about anything else except what sounds true and beautiful to me in the moment.
Focus On Augmented and Diminished Chords
After getting a grip on major, minor, dominant and half diminished chords, I think it's important to study fully diminished 7th chords and augmented triads, as they function harmonically in all 12 keys. This exercise will help you to make musical sounding voicings as you navigate through these types of chords.

One Exercise - All The Chords
Voicing simple 7th chords in every key is something all jazz pianists (and pianists who play from lead sheets in general) should be able to do. Without getting too fancy with 9ths and 13ths and altered tones, I'd like to help you be able to simply voice all major, minor, dominant and half diminished chords simply and beautifully with this very musical exercise.
