Ether J. - "I've just finished this course on Nebula and I can't praise it enough. I'm not a jazz player, but am a musician who performs in other genres. I've made learning jazz one of my top goals, but haven't made much progress. Most teachers focus on scales, chords, arpeggios, etc. I am so tired of these!! In this course, Aimee takes a musical approach by focusing on motifs. This is brilliant! I have learned so much from these lessons that I just had to write about them. I now have an approach that I can understand to do my own solos. Thank you Aimee! You are the best!"

Part of being a good musician is recognizing all the parts of music; every component that goes into making what we love. Rhythm is a huge part of that. Practicing drumming exercises is one of my favorite ways to expand the musician inside of me and I'd like to share some of my favorites with you!
The very talented, and classically-trained Brenda Martin (professor at Point Loma) and I sat down in her San Diego studio to have a lesson recently. The first half of the lesson was spent, discussing many facets of the blues. I decided (with Brenda's permission, of course) to share it with you!
Some fun excerpts from my performance at the Sea Pines country club in Hilton Head, SC with local musicians, Jackson Evans (guitar), Brett Belanger (bass), and Justin Varnes (drums). It was a great way to wrap up the week! Unfortunate lighting, but I was glad for what we got. Thanks to James Berry for running the camera for me.
I spent the day at Disney's California Adventure, accompanying a choir, and despite the traffic, the wind (and some page turning nightmares) and the crowds, it was a fun time! Ride the Cars ride with me and see a ridiculously over-priced cookie go straight to my thighs.
Earthworks sent me this brand new studio vocal mic, and I'm so excited to test it out against the AKG P220, which has gotten me to this point in my YouTube career. Conclusion: For the price, the AKG does a wonderful job, but if you can get your hands on one, the SV33 is where it's at! Gear used: Earthworks SV33 Studio Vocal Microphone Earthworks PM40 Piano Microphone AKG P220 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone.
I sang a Bowie song in 6 part harmony, using the Gridplay app. [Gridplay: Multi-Track Video App For iPhone (David Bowie Space Oddity)] Today, I show you a bit about how to use it, what it can do, and how I record multiple harmony tracks.
