In My Life (To The Victims Of The Carr Fire)
I grew up in Weaverville, a small gold rush town in Northern California. In late July, The Carr Fire threatened my town, and destroyed much of Trinity and Shasta Counties. There were 36,000 evacuations, 1,604 buildings lost, 8 lives taken, and much hope lost. My heart is in that place, and with those wonderful people who though they have lost much, still have each other and their memories. Photographs, taken by Jeff Dye in 2010, when the oaks and manzanitas were green and thriving, the lake was surrounded with lush forest, and the remnants of the mining town "Old Shasta" was painted with a beautiful backdrop of green and blossoms.
